ScotMus.com does not send unsolicited bulk e-mail ("spam") of any kind under any circumstances.
Spamming is defined as an illegal activity under the E.U. & U.K. internet legislation that is applicable within the context of the Scottish Court system and Scottish Law per se. If you have received a spam e-mail that appears to have originated from a ScotMus.com server, I can assure you that it was not an authentic ScotMus.com message, and that we are both victims of illegal activity.
Unfortunately, legitimately-administered e-mail systems (such as ScotMus.com's) can sometimes be the victim of unauthorised and illegal "spoofing" — domain names, mail-servers and even specific e-mail addresses can be "spoofed" by spammers to fraudulently send e-mails that may look as if they came from a legitimate sender, but actually didn't. This can happen without the legitimate account's owner being aware of the abuse, since the offending material is generally sent through third-party servers over which the real owner has no technological control. In the worst cases, this can lead to legitimate e-mail accounts being automatically blacklisted by anti-spam services, in some cases rendering their normal use practically impossible. Most of the time, the victim is chosen randomly and arbitrarily by spammers' software, but in some cases, the "spoofing" can be a deliberate and malicious attack against the victim's online credibility.
So if you have received any spam that appears to have come from an ScotMus.com address, in the first instance please report it to me immediately, including as much information as possible about the e-mail's origins (such as its SMTP server addresses). Please do not go out of your way to get ScotMus.com blacklisted for spamming without discussing the issue with me first — ScotMus.com does not send spam, and neither do I take kindly to spammers attempting to "spoof" its e-mail systems for their own illegal purposes. So please help me to help you in combating illegal internet activity —
